Comments: Would Willingham Have Made A Different Decision?

November 19th, 2007

So, does Ken Goe (“What if Willingham, not Bellotti, had been coaching Dixon?”) have a point? Willingham benched Jake Locker after a serious injury. Should Bellotti have done the same with Dennis Dixon?

Are you kidding? Let’s do some comparisons:

    1. Locker is a freshman and will be back next year. Dixon was either totally done with his college career vs. ASU or when the knee became unstable again.
    2. The Huskies season is already in the tank…even if they win out they’re going NOWHERE.
    3. Locker is a Heisman trophy candid….wait…no he’s not.
    4. Bellotti made the decsion with input from doct…wait, no he didn’t. He made sure Dixon was medically cleared.

That’s just the most obvious four differences. There are also a host of intangibles with a player like Dixon on a team like the Ducks in a season like this.

And…seriously…are we SERIOUSLY holding up the Huskies as an example? SERIOUSLY?

    Ken Goe to Hell.

The main difference to me is that Locker’s injury was to his neck, Dixon’s to his knee. The difference is that Locker could end up in a wheelchair the rest of his life, Dixon might limp a little. Hmmm!

Concurr with RandyDuck and his points. Evil Empire at it again Ken GoeToHell and CanzanASS. And… Ducks #2 “possible” National Title.. we don’t get into this situation very often… uh … never. Thanks D-Dix for trying to make it happen for all the fans, your team, and the school. You made sure it “might” work, but no luck.
Oregonian has to make something up to scratch about.
If we somehow beat UCLA and the Flat-tails, it will have been an awsome, awsome year!
    Gooooo Leaf!
