With reports coming out of Michigan that Lloyd Carr is going to announce his retirement on Monday, ESPN Radio has started speculating who might take over at Michigan. And guess who’s name came up? Boise State’s Chris Petersen? Yes. Wake Forest’s Jim Grobe? Yes. And…of course, Mike Bellotti.
So, if you were Mike Bellotti, what would it take for you to consider going to the University of Michigan?

Hasn’t this year proven that Oregon can enter the National Championship discussion? Why would he want to go to school he’s 2-0 against?

why? I would think Bellotti is in a better situation here. I can’t imagine Blue going outside “the family”

No way Bellotti will go to Michigan. I can’t imagine they have the nerve to ask. He’ll be our AD some day and Chip Kelly will take over as coach.

Oregon needs to go a different direction already. Promote Chip Kelly and Get rid of Bellotti.

Bellotti does a very poor job of preparing his teams to deal with adversity. No doubt he has helped build the program, and has done wonders for the team during his tenure. Once again, this team will fold like last years team, and Bellotti teams of the past.
With Cal’s late season demise, this might be our chance to get Tedford back on our sidelines.

Not sure if Bellotti would want to leave the area for an even higher profile, higher pressure job as Michigan’s coach. I will agree with what appears to be a consensus in posts ahead of this one, that Bellotti is not exactly loved unconditionally in Duck Nation. I will say this, he is a gentleman, to a fault, when sometimes the program would do better with a coach that will stand up every now and then and bust someone in the chops. As far as wanting Tedford back, I couldn’t disagree more. Let Tedford stay where he is (or not), I say good riddance to him…

What can Bellotti do at Michigan that he can’t do here?

Coach Bellotti is not going anywhere. However I think it is time that the program, led by Bellotti, addresses the need to change our defensive coordinator. We will never win a national championship with Nick as our DC.

Everyone that thinks that Bellotti should stay needs to move on and get over Bellotti. He is not helping the Ducks. Get rid of him and have Chip take over the team.

How good is Chip Kelly? Is this the week we find out if it was the “system” or the player?

I don’t understand why everybody gives Bellotti such a hard time. He could be the best thing that ever happened for Oregon football. He is the reason Chip Kelly is here. If Dixon didn’t get hurt we would have dominated Arizona. It’s all part of football, imagine if other teams lost their star quarterback. Look how Oklahoma fell apart when Bradford went down. Imagine if Tim Tebow went down or Chase Daniels. These players are one of a kind and Dixon is a Heisman winner in my heart. I’ve never seen a player that meant so much to the Ducks. Thank you Dennis for all the memories and thanks to Mike Bellotti for bringing him here. Regardless of what happens from here on out, I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun as a Duck fan. Oh wait it was 2001… six years ago.

Bellotti is the best coach Oregon has ever had. How many coaches would junk their offense for a new one, the spread, and be smart enought to bring in Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator? Many said Bellotti was crazy because Chip had no A1 experience. You better hope Bellotti stays at Oregon.

jmann and Oldfatduck……Well said. I’m right there with ya.
AZ Game was f - ed up. Injuries finally took their toll. Like Canzano said, Leaf’s offense probably should have been better prepared.
Wow, the Ducks have come a long long way in the past decade or so. 15 years ago it was a treat just to win a game. Now were talking NC’s and Heismans. Bellotti had a great deal to due with this.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Bellotti as AD and Tedford as coach. That could happen. Remember the out clause in Tedfords contract that allows him to leave Cal if offered the Head Coach job at Oregon.
If Leaf and Stewart are healthy, the Ducks can go to the Rose Bowl. Leaf has great skills. Don’t be fooled by his last performance.
I hope Bellotti stays and continues to build Duck football into a national powerhouse. Still a ways to go, but it takes time.

Bellotti has a good thing going and so do the ducks. We havn’t made the NC game, Yet. However in just the current decade we have been within the picture 3 times, and we still have 2 more years. You start mucking around with something that isn’t broken and you end up like Miami, Notre Dame, and Nebraska. Look at where those teams were in 2001, and look at where they are now. Sure we have been off the map as well, but someday maybe the recruits will decide to flock to a soggy eugene over a sunny SC. We do fairly well with the talent we have. This year has been the funnest year I’ve ever had going too and watching away games on the tube. Have we ever had a team that just flat out destroyed other teams like this year.
Unrelated, but I think a new rivavlry between AZ has started. Those fans are the most classless jackass’s I’ve ever seen. You’d think they had beat our best on the field by 50 they way they talk. Best thing is though is that they probably bought stoops another couple of years on their contract, so I guess it all works out.

You want Tedford? The same thing has happened to him this year that has to us except they have been worse. How well has he prepared his team for adversity?
Dixon went down. Brady didn’t play as well as Dixon. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t prepared as well as he could have been by the coaches. And I will guarantee you that Chip Kelly had more to do with attempting to have him prepared than Bellotti.
We are lucky to have both of them!
