Rivals Radio: Pryor Denies Monday’s Visit to Oregon

January 24th, 2008

Mike Farrell on Rivals Radio this morning said he talked with Terrelle Pryor late last night. Pryor denied the reports that a visit to Oregon is scheduled for Monday, January 28. Pryor is apparently trying to take two more visits before signing day February 6, but has to work around his basketball schedule.

I’m sick of this garbage. I really don’t think the Ducks need this kid. It isn’t like he’s a sure thing anyway.

    Metro,

I agree. This is getting old. The kid loves the limelight - maybe Eugene’s too small for his head. At least it will all be over Feb. 6.

  3. Michael H. Says:

    January 24th, 2008 at 5:03 pm

I’m really sick of this kid. I want our program to get kids who want to be Ducks as opposed to those who seem to get off jerking around the media and the fans.

If all we have to live with is Darron Thomas and Chris Harper I think we’ll be okay.

  4. Bruce Says:

    January 24th, 2008 at 5:12 pm

No whiny sour grapes from me, I’m sick of it, but it would be nice if the kid & his coach got on the same page.

  5. DUCKED UP Says:

    January 24th, 2008 at 5:17 pm

we don’t need the kid, harper and thomas are our future. go ducks!! thank you jstew!! welcome back chung!!

with the age of the internet i think the pryor thing has gotten way way blown out of proportion. maybe, maybe not, but i would bet money pryor will be nothing short of great wherever he ends up.

  7. Coastal Duck Says:

I think we’re all on the same page, here - the Drama Kings know how to work it - to be in a state of hand-wringing and hoop-jumping is to be too emotionally involved with an 18/19 -year-old HS Sr.

The frost is off the pumpkin, TP - we’d love to have you, but we ain’t stayin’ up waitin’ for your ‘date’ to get off the porch and get inside the house.

  8. dsmalley Says:

Pryor has never said that he was coming. It’s all these bloggers (especially the guy in portland) who says..oh yeah, he’s coming on the 28th. yada yada. I don’t blame the kid.

  10. Jason Says:

I think you all are garbage for acting like we would be better off without him. Who are you? Mike Bellotti? Chip Kelley? Pat Kilkenny? No, you aren’t, so shut up with your pointless criticism. You’d have to be absolutely moronic to think that we don’t need Terrelle, just because he toys with the media doesn’t mean you disregard his talent and act like you’re too cool for him.

Oh and I’m sure he is really sorry to have inconvenienced you by committing to his basketball team and not jumping on every opportunity to ditch them and fly across to country to make you happy.

You act like you should be in the corner office making all the decisions for UO’s program, get out of here with your crap.

This is simply a clip from a radio show. There is no reporting being done us.

It does get old hearing how he is going to come and then how he isn’t. To back him up though, its his HS coach who said he is going to visit. It would be great to have him, but personally I’m very excited for what we do have in Darron and Chris. Darron’s coach coached Pryor during the Army game and said he thinks Darron is a much better passer. If you have seen highlight reals, he is definitely a good enough runner as well. I know coaches like to bump up there kids, but in Pryors high school games he never threw more than like 10 times.

Anyway, people need to stop getting mad at him. I agree I think he is chasing limelight(just look at what happens when a new big name school calls him) But it wasn’t him who said he was visiting. It was his coach

cn, dsmalley - RIGHT ON! We’ve never heard anything straight from the kid’s mouth. Anyone who wouldn’t want him is a FOOL! Blame the rumormongers (NOT THIS SITE, they do a great job of simply posting what is going on, on the TOO MANY bloggers and self-proclaimed “experts”)! I love ducksportsnews.com!

This Pryor kid seems to have more clout than Michael Jordan in his hayday. These blogs have given spoiled 17-year-old wanabees prima donna status before they have done anything in D-1 ball. The spread offense will bring out all sorts of athletic, extremely fast qb’s in the very near future. They are out there, it’s just that most high school offenses promote the drop-back quarterback. Too bad the NFL won’t take him, I’d love to see the results.

enough of this Darron Thomas inclusion in the QB discussions - he wants to play WR

This is just a reporter who says he talked to Pryor a bunch of reporters say they have talked to him and he says one thing or another we won’t know until Monday. The truth is Pryor is a 18 year old kid and changes his mind all the time.

    WOW Jason,
    Who are you exactly dude?
The dude is in HS and he is actiing like a rock star.
Does Oregon really need a headache like that.
It’s all about him! This is why USC is in trouble right now, with stuff from Bush. Oregon doesn’t need huge star that is bigger than the program!
So who are you again? Thanks for telling us that we don’t matter. You must be part of his group.
WOW…. Football is a team sport! We saw how MB handled the star with letting Dixon decide the teams hopes of a nationl title or even a Pac-10 title.
A coach should never let a player decide anything that is related to the team as a whole! If the great MB would have just told Dixon that he was hurt and tried to get his team prepared to play Arizona without him, they might not have fell so flat for two games! WOW a star player above the good of the team! I guess it is truly the me generation!
Thanks Jason showing us that is true these days!
You weren’t a good team mate were you?

Terrelle Pryor is still visiting Oregon on the 28th. The guy on Rivals is talking out his @$$. The way it is reported here though makes it appear that what the guy said on Rivals is true. It is not, Pryor is visiting Oregon.

  19. Iron City Duck Says:

    January 25th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I live in Pittsburgh. Pryor has a league game this Saturday and follows that Sunday night by playing Aliquippa at 7PM in the Pittsburgh High School Classic at Duquesne University. His Jeanette Jayhawks are #2 in WPIAL AA while Aliquippa is #3 in the WPIAL AA. Here’s the link on that story:
    http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08025/852130-361.stm
He then has another league game next Tuesday night. So how in the heck is he going to make a meaningful visit on Monday the 28th? Uncle Phil can’t charter a direct flight anymore. Pittsburgh to Portland isn’t a direct flight. Then he has to connect to Eugene. It seems logistically impossible. Besides, even with my green and yellow blinders on, it looks really bad to miss a school day for a cross country recruiting trip, even if Pitt or LSU assistants for example set up camp for 8+ hours at your high school.
He plays in a regular season invitational game in Philly at Villanova next Friday. Here’s his basketball schedule:
    http://www.jeannette.k12.pa.us/66524041591944/site/default.asp
Maybe just maybe he can do the cross-country thing and attend the Civil War game at Mac Court next Saturday. Some have speculated he might miss a game against a lesser opponent to make a recruiting trip. I don’t know. Nobody but Terrelle Pryor and his recruiting mentor Charlie Batch know for sure. In the meantime, let’s cut him some slack for trying to make a state title run with his friends and teammates that he’ll never play with again. Jeanette is a single A school that plays up to double A. Pittsburgh and Western PA are full of tight communities that center on their high school football teams. In Jeannette’s case, they have a legitimate shot at winning the PIAA state titles in both football and basketball. Terrelle Pryor is living the dream. He’s a team player. Amidst all the chaos, he’s trying to make a rational decision to play college football for and win a national title for a program that runs the spread where he can start right away. Let’s relax. Walk a mile in his shoes and try to deal with the blogosphere, media, and recruiting circus. He said in his recruiting diary today in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette “not to count out Oregon.” I’ll take him at his word after all he broke the news that Rich Rodriguez was taking the Michigan job first! Anyway, when you have CK logging frequent flier miles, you may not need a visit. And when you have the likes of DD endorsing CK’s tutelage … that is huge.

    Great post Iron City.

Some of you other guys make me embarrassed to be a Duck fan.

“The dude is in HS and he is actiing like a rock star.”

What’s funny is that he’s actually in HS. Some of you are acting like you still haven’t been to HS.

What is a rock star without the attention?

    Not a rock star.

    Think about it morons.

  21. Sid Wicks Says:

The most recent posts seem to be the most stable posts. I for one think we need to not worry about TP. Embrace the fact we have DT and Harper.
    New Perspective:
Here’s the other thing I like about the TP circus.
Everyday until Feb. 6th the Oregon Ducks get mentioned nationally. Don’t you guys just love that? UO Marketing couldn’t buy the kind of press we are getting. The #1 guy in the country still has us on the list.
Get him or not, that’s good for the program.

Thanks for the insight Iron City Duck. Puts it in perspective a bit.

Sid, I agree with you completely. This kind of attention says a lot about Oregon’s program.
