Why is Pryor Still Listing Oregon?

January 7th, 2008

Does anyone else find it odd that the number-one rated high school player, Terrelle Pryor still lists Oregon as one of his college choices? He’s already said he does not have time for a visit to Eugene, and the schools he’s going up against (Ohio State, Florida, Michigan and Penn State) are the best around. Why are the Ducks still on his list?

It was reported late last week that because he was not to make an official visit to Oregon, he had taken them off his list, but after he won the MVP award for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl he insisted that was a mistake and Oregon was still in the mix.

What’s your take? Where do you see Mr. Pryor ending up?

Seems like an obvious choice. Big name school, big name coach running his kind of offense. Not much competition at the QB position.

Here is my take: Pryor is considering Oregon because of the offense and the memory of Dixon. Plus, it is far away from home, and he already said he wouldn’t consider Pitt, at his dad’s urging, because of proximity. Penn St. is puzzling and I think that we could pull a coup (though not expecting it) with that appeal. Small, family atmosphere, very close to big cities and fun for weekends and breaks (P-Town and Seattle) and a chance to see the other side of the country. Also, I think that he likes the style we have, and as we all know, publicity is publicity, all this being of the good variety.

Well, TP could do a lot worse than packing his bags for Eugene. At least he’d know that he’d get a great college town, coach & team, and excellent chance for development to get to the next level. I mean really, how many QB’s does Oregon have in the pros? JH, KC, AJ F, JF. Not to mention AS,and BM. All in the past 15 yrs. Pretty good really. If he shows up with desire, he’s a shoe in for the pros.

Right in front of the cameras at the all american game, TP took off his helmet and pointed to the Ohio State achievement sticker on the back. I think we need to let that thought go and focus on Darron Thomas, who has a much smoother style and more developed pass game. If Darron bulks up a bit this winter and spring, since he is already in Eugene, he will be just as hard to tackle as TP. Which is the only advantage I see TP having right now.
