August 21st, 2008

FRIDAY UPDATE: Thanks for the great questions! Just a few minutes ago, I sent all of those questions (plus a few of our own) on to the representative in University of Oregon’s Athletic Department who is going to answer those questions. So, you had questions…We’ll get the answers. Check back soon. Thanks again!

A University of Oregon official has been kind enough to answer questions regarding the status of the Ducks’ broadcast deal. We’ll have them posted here soon. If you have a question, post it below or click here.

THE CONVERSATION

Is the future of ComcastSportsNet in jeopardy due to the Sonics leaving Seattle? FSN will certainly want the Blazers now which is anchor for ComcastSports. If Comcast loses the Blazers, will there be enough programming to sustain the channel?

Will there be any broadcast channels for OSN or will it all be on cable now?

Is Comcast going to be on Satellite before the season starts?

Does OSN still have it’s relationship with ESPN Gameplan?

  2. Larry Says:

I live in rural Oregon and have to rely on Dish Network to get the Ducks on TV. I have the sports packages, local channels and distant channels to get everything available. Will we be able to get the Ducks on Sat.

Comcast in it’s current config. will not work for me or many other rural Oregonians unless Dish carries it.

    Thanks.

I live in Woodburn. Like many other areas of Oregon, Comcast is not a cable provider here–there is no legal way for me to get Comcast SportsNet. What is your contingency plan for these areas–which, geographically, compose most of the state?

I have the same question as Larry, though I have Direct TV. Is Comcast expecting (are they even trying) an agreement with the satellite companies anytime soon? Direct has Concast Sports Network affiliates in many of the other areas of the country (SF being the closest).

My parents live in Bend and I live in Portland. Will there be a re-play of the games so that we may watch the games once we get home?

I am a comcast subscriber in Seattle/Tacoma area. Why is comcast sports northwest not available to me?

I see it as a perfect opportunity for comcast now that the sonics have left Seattle. The blazers and Ducks can go regional…

Similar question. I live in Medford and the only cable provider is Charter . . . what can I do? Is there pressure being put on Comcast?

  8. Erin Says:

How many games do you expect will be available to view by Comcast subscribers in Oregon?

  9. Jim Wickre Says:

I also live in Medford and want to know where I will be able to watch the Mike Bellotti Coaches Show after we beat the Huskies!

I live in Chicago. How will this affect ESPN Gameplan and other games that were previously available on satellite?

Also, will OSN be producing games not picked up by other carriers, or will IMG do any producing of live games? If so, will those games be available nationally through satellite?

  11. Greg Says:

I live outside of Roseburg, satelite is my only option, I currently have dish network and would like to know if duck games will be available to me? If they are broadcast on comcast, when will it be added to dish??

I am simply wondering how will those fans who live in Central Oregon (and other areas) where Comcast is unavailable will get to see their Ducks play? I used to watch on KOHD in Bend and that was great, but I fear that, unless I am missing a simple solution (i.e. NOT having to start getting Direct TV just to see the Ducks), the UO is standing to alienate a large portion of their following.

I live in Alaska and don’t have any OSN availabilty other than what’s on FSN, or other networks but what I have been doing is watching the games and shows I don’t get on TV at http://www.goducks.com it’s $9.99/mo. and sometimes it takes a day or two to get it posted but it is my only option up here and it may be that is also the case for some of you guys.

Assuming the Ducks ink a deal with Comcast, can fans look forward to seeing games in HD on DIRECTV?

  15. Shaun Says:

I have the same question I have posed to the Blazers. When will CSN become available to DirecTV. I live in Canby and not in Comcast territory and I NEED MY DUCKS AND BLAZERS SO GET ON IT.

  16. Tyler Says:

    August 21st, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Do you know if OSN will add portlands CW?

  17. Jake Taylor Says:

Same question as others. If the UO signs a deal with Comcast Sportsnet will it be available on DirecTV in the near future?

How about the Oregon Coast? Am I going to have to travel an hour and change inland just to watch TV?
