Mockery Drafts Are The Sincerest Form Of Love

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

JJ, here.

Anyone heard of NBADraft.net? Up until a few minutes ago, neither had I. So, just as a quick disclaimer, I have no idea what kind of credibility this site has (and I’m not really a NBA fan, either). However, on a bit of a snow slow day, what this site has to say about the 2008 NBA Draft makes for some good fodder and palaver.

According to NBADraft.net’s 2008 Mock Draft, the following Oregon players will get some love and be drafted:

32. Seattle - Bryce Taylor 6-4 205 SG Oregon Sr.

43. Houston - Malik Hairston 6-6 215 SG Oregon Sr.

54. LA Lakers - Maarty Leunen 6-9 220 SF/PF Oregon Sr.

Now, that creates some interesting Oregon synergy for both the Sonics and the Rockets. If things remain the same in Seattle (or Oklahoma City) for Luke Ridnour, Bryce and Luke could be suiting up together. And Malik could be reunited with Aaron Brooks in Houston.

Assuming they make their rosters (and I think that’s a big assumption), on how many occasions have two former Ducks been on the same NBA roster? That’s not rhetorical. I really don’t know.

And Maarty on the Lakers seems like a Luke Walton-like selection? Does that seem about right?

As far as the site goes, it’s kind of interesting. Not only does it have this year’s mock draft, but it has next year’s, as well. And it has lists for the Class of 2010 and 2011. Wow. A little bit too much information, even for me.

Well, NBADraft.net does have one more interesting bit of information. You want to know who else is going to get some Love? Ding…ding…ding. You are correct!

Portland at #20.

I can see the signs now.

“Kevin Loves Greg Oden”?

Too soon? As a teammate, I think he might.
